Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer (May 21, 1960 – November 28, 1994) was an American serial killer and sex offender who murdered 17 young men and boys between 1978 and 1991, primarily in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His crimes involved rape, dismemberment, necrophilia, and cannibalism, making him one of the most notorious serial killers in modern history.
Dahmer was arrested in July 1991 after one of his intended victims escaped and alerted police, leading to the discovery of human remains in his apartment. He was convicted of 15 counts of murder and sentenced to 15 consecutive life terms. Dahmer was beaten to death by a fellow inmate at Columbia Correctional Institution in 1994. His case has been extensively analyzed for its psychological, social, and forensic implications, as well as its impact on public awareness of mental illness and criminal pathology.
