Robin Gecht (born November 16, 1953) is an American criminal and the alleged leader of a group of murderers known as the “Ripper Crew,” active in Chicago, Illinois, in the early 1980s. The group, which included Edward Spreitzer and brothers Andrew and Thomas Kokoraleis, was responsible for the abduction, sexual torture, and murder of multiple women. Their crimes were marked by ritualistic mutilation, including postmortem acts inspired by sadistic and occult themes.
While Gecht was never convicted of murder due to insufficient physical evidence, he was convicted in 1983 of attempted murder, rape, and aggravated battery in a related assault case. He was sentenced to 120 years in prison and remains incarcerated. The Ripper Crew’s crimes remain among the most disturbing in Chicago’s history, noted for their brutality and ritualistic nature.
