While on death row, John Wayne Gacy turned his love of painting into a successful business. He would complete nearly 2500 paintings in the 15 years he spent in prison before being executed. One of his most infamous painting series in the “Hi-Ho” series which depicts the classic Disney characters the Seven Dwarves in various scenes. This specific painting was the second in the series, titled “Hi Ho in the Fall.” It has been painted on a large 18x24 inch canvas panel board, signed on the front bottom right corner in oil paint, and titled and numbered on the back in pen. This painting was obtained by us directly from a corrections officer who Gacy painted it for.

John Wayne Gacy was an American serial killer who murdered 33 men and boys between the years of 1972-1978 in the Chicago, IL area. He became known as the Killer Clown due to the fact that he would dress up as a clown and entertain young children. His victims ranged from young men he picked up off the street, sex workers, and even employees who worked for his contracting company, PDM. In December of 1978, Gacy was finally arrested for his crimes after a search warrant uncovered 26 bodies in the crawlspace under his house, another 3 bodies buried in the yard, and four more recovered from the Des Plaines River. He was convicted and sentenced to death, and executed on May 10th, 1994 after spending over 15 years on Illinois death row. He is referred to as thee most infamous serial killer in American History.
