Richard Angelo (born August 29, 1962) is an American former nurse and convicted serial killer who murdered patients at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, New York, in 1987. Angelo injected patients with paralytic drugs such as Pavulon and Anectine, intending to revive them to appear heroic when saving their lives.

When several patients died unexpectedly, toxicology tests revealed traces of the drugs, leading to Angelo’s arrest. He was convicted of second-degree murder and assault, receiving a sentence of 50 years to life in prison. His case remains notable in discussions of medical homicide and the “hero syndrome” among healthcare professionals.
