In December of 1978, Gacy was finally arrested for his crimes after a search warrant uncovered 26 bodies in the crawlspace under his house, another 3 bodies buried in the yard, and four more recovered from the Des Plaines River. He was convicted and sentenced to death, and executed on May 10th, 1994 after spending over 15 years on Illinois death row.
