Ottis Toole “Welcome to Hell” Signed Poem

This original handwritten poem, titled “Welcome to Hell,” was penned and signed by notorious serial killer Ottis Toole while incarcerated at Florida State Prison. Written entirely in Toole’s hand on decorative stationery, the chilling piece reflects the violent and disturbing themes that frequently appeared in his prison writings. The manuscript concludes with his signature, “Ottis Toole – The Cannibal,” along with the name “Juan Vega – The Psychopath” and references to Florida State Prison’s Maximum Security unit.

Ottis Toole was convicted of multiple murders during the 1970s and 1980s and became one of America’s most infamous serial killers. A drifter and arsonist, Toole was closely associated with fellow serial killer Henry Lee Lucas, and together the pair claimed responsibility for hundreds of murders—many of which investigators later determined were false confessions. Toole was convicted of six murders, including the abduction and murder of six year old Adam Walsh, a confession he later recanted before again admitting involvement.
