Robert J. Long (better known as Bobby Joe Long) was a Florida serial killer and rapist responsible for the abduction, sexual assault, and murder of at least 10 women in the Tampa Bay area during an eight-month spree in 1984. Known as the “Classified Ad Rapist,” he targeted women through newspaper ads before his crimes escalated into multiple murders. He was captured after survivor Lisa McVey helped police identify him, ultimately leading to his arrest. Long was sentenced to death and executed in Florida in 2019.
