Original 1993 Waco Tribune-Herald — Branch Davidian Siege & World Trade Center Bombing

The newspaper that ignited the violent siege at the Branch Davidians compound in Waco Texas. The feds had infiltrated the cult to an undercover journalist from the Waco Tribune who spent months writing an investigative report about David Koresh and the Branch Davidians. Upon learning that this newspaper was going to publish this headline that Sunday morning, the feds panicked and, with a blown cover, rushed ahead with an impromptu, poorly planned raid of the heavily fortified Branch Davidian Compound. In turn, the 70+ heavily armed cult members knew they were coming and used their masssive stock of firearms to unleash hell on the ATF and FBI’s federal intrusion. A massive firefight ensued on live tv and federal agents and cult members died as the entire world watched it unfold.

This specific newspaper was the cause of all of it.

The front page features a major investigative story titled “The Sinful Messiah,” focusing on David Koresh and the Branch Davidian religious group in Waco, Texas, just days before the deadly siege at the Branch Davidian compound began. The issue provides firsthand historical context surrounding Koresh, his followers, and the growing tensions in Waco.

The same front page also prominently reports on the February 26, 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which killed six people and injured more than 1,000 others.
