Susan Denise Atkins (May 7, 1948 – September 24, 2009) was an American criminal and a member of the “Manson Family,” the cult led by Charles Manson. She participated in several of the 1969 Tate–LaBianca murders, including the killing of actress Sharon Tate, and became one of Manson’s most devoted followers.

Atkins was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy in 1971 and sentenced to death, later commuted to life imprisonment. While incarcerated, she expressed remorse and became a born-again Christian. Atkins remained in prison until her death in 2009. Her case continues to be studied in the context of cult influence, coercive control, and female participation in violent extremism.
