Gary Leon Ridgway (born February 18, 1949), known as the “Green River Killer,” is an American serial killer convicted of murdering 49 women, though he has confessed to killing more than 70 between 1982 and 1998 in Washington State. Ridgway primarily targeted vulnerable women, including sex workers, whom he strangled and left near the Green River.

Arrested in 2001 after DNA evidence linked him to several murders, Ridgway pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty and received 49 consecutive life sentences.
